Third street, passed away just eight days following the death of her husband. She died about 4:40 a.m. this morning at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids where she had been a patient after falling down the basement steps at her son's home in Cedar Rapids last Thursday. Following the services, she accompanied her son, Lewis Sammons, to his home in Cedar Rapids. She had been there just a short time when she opened the door and fell the full length of the basement stairway. It is believed she thought she was opening the door to a closet. Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with Rev. G. J. Dingman in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Sammons was born September 2, 1870, and was 76 years of age at the time of her death. She married James Sammons on May 1, 1901. Her maiden name was Harriet Jane Glasford. Mrs. Sammons is survived by the following children: Mrs. Vera Nordyke, Richland; Mrs. Elizabeth Wehr, Mr. Pleasant; Mrs. Wilma McCall, Ottumwa; Verl Sammons, Grinnell, and Lewis Sammons, Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by three sisters and a brother, Mrs. C. E. Else, Omaha; Mrs. Warren Bilger, Omaha; Mrs. M. B. Claveau, Spring Arbor, Michigan, and P.E. Glasford, Omaha. Five grandchildren also survive.
