Description	:	LAUREL - On Wednesday, July 26, 2006, Hazel Catherine Whited, 94, passed away with her family at her side. She was born Feb. 16, 1912, to Axel and Leanna Peterson on her father's homestead in Luther. At the age of 7, her parents moved to a ranch near Nye along the Stillwater River. Hazel was married in 1928 to Dewey Whited. They ranched at Nye until the late '70s before moving to Laurel to be near their daughter, Ethel (Hudson) Rosselot. Read More	LAUREL - On Wednesday, July 26, 2006, Hazel Catherine Whited, 94, passed away with her family at her side. She was born Feb. 16, 1912, to Axel and Leanna Peterson on her father's homestead in Luther. At the age of 7, her parents moved to a ranch near Nye along the Stillwater River. Hazel was married in 1928 to Dewey Whited. They ranched at Nye until the late '70s before moving to Laurel to be near their daughter, Ethel (Hudson) Rosselot. Hazel liked to do all kinds of crafts and quilting, especially her "Bible quilt." She also enjoyed traveling. She has been to Israel, Italy, Egypt, England, Wales, Scotland, Alaska, Portugal and most of the United States. Hazel served as president, vice-president and treasurer of the Laurel Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Melvin, Glen, Murl and Wayne; her husband, Dewey Whited; and daughter, Clara Ellen. Survivors include her daughter, Ethel Rosselot of Laurel; her sister, Betty Jean Habemal of Texas; grandchildren, Merle (Pat) Hudson of Snohomish, Wash., Duane (Mary) Hudson of Absarokee and Rick (Vicki) Hudson of Kellogg, Idaho. She is survived by 11 great¬-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Hazel was a great mother and grandmother. She was a loving and caring person, who, like Will Rogers, never met a person she didn't like. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 31, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel. Interment will be in the Nye Cemetery at 2 p.m., followed by a lunch at Nye Community Church. Memorials may be sent to Laurel Senior Center, Nye Community Church or Rocky Mountain Hospice. Visitation will be Sunday, July 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel.
