Miss Easton had to quit work at the Oppenheim store Friday and take to her bed at the home of her brother, R. B. Easton, with whom she boarded. Dr. Hubbard pronounced the case one of severe appendicitis but it was not until Sunday that the young lady decid- ed to undergo the operation. Sunday she was removed to the Epworth hospi- tal in South Bend, where Dr. J. B. Berteling, in the absence of Dr. Greene of Mishawaka, operated. Everything went well until Monday evening, when absorption of infectious matter com- menced to affect the liver and she grew steadily worse, passing away at 10:30 Wednesday morning. Her mother was at her bedside at the time. The passing away of so promising a young lady as Miss Easton has cast a gloom over the entire community. She was a graduate of Eau Clare High School, class of 1910. In school, as in business, she was extremely energetic and had friends everywhere. Deceased had celebrated her 20th birthday anni- versary on July 4. The heartbroken family have the deepest sympathy of all. The remains were brought from South Bend last evening and the funer- al will occur Friday morning at 11 o'clock from the South Berrien Center church.
