Washburn 83, formerly of Westminster Helen Snyder Spencer Washburn, 83, formerly of Westminster, who resided with her granddaughter in Philipsburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg, Pa. Born April 29, 1923, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Grace Yingling Snyder. She was a 1940 graduate of Westminster High School. She had worked for 3M Corp. in Westminster as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1983. She was also a beautician. Washburn 83, formerly of Westminster Helen Snyder Spencer Washburn, 83, formerly of Westminster, who resided with her granddaughter in Philipsburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg, Pa. Born April 29, 1923, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Grace Yingling Snyder. She was a 1940 graduate of Westminster High School. She had worked for 3M Corp. in Westminster as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1983. She was also a beautician. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westminster, where she taught Sunday school, and Centre United Methodist Church at Osceola Mills Road, Pa., and past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Westminster. Surviving are son H. Lee Spencer of Cape Coral, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law Roland Sr. and Helen Snyder of Bridgeport W. Va.; grandchildren Terri Conklin, Clinton Spencer, Scott and Kevin Helm, and Debbie Zaruba; 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews. She was predeceased by daughter Nancy Doan. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Leister’s Church Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Marton J. Roberson officiating. Interment will be in St. John Leister’s Cemetery in Westminster. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today, with services to be held at 7 p.m., at First Church of Christ, Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, Pa., and 1 p.m. until time of service Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westminster.
