She died Monday at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior. Helen graduated from Hastings High School. On Feb. 23, 1936 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Hastings, she was married to Ray C. Uhrmacher. To this union five children were born. In 1944 they moved to a farm east of Cadams. After Ray's death she moved to Superior where she was making her home at the time of her death. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Salem Ladies Circle, and Abdal and Cadams Extension Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 4, 1978, an infant daughter, a sister, Leona Kothe and three brothers, Orville, Roy and Gilbert Tanner. She is survived by her children, Melvin Uhrmacher, Superior, Mrs. Loren Ahrens (Catherine), Superior, Virgil Uhrmacher, Cozad, and Darrel Uhrmacher, Omaha; a brother, Vernon Tanner, Little Falls, Minn.; two sisters, Laura Silger, Panorama City, Calif., and Violet Clipper, Bakersfield, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services are today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior. Pastor Michael Osberg will officiate. Interment is at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. The daughter of Milan and Rose (Huckfeldt) Tanner, Helen was born June 28, 1915, at Lewellen, Nebraska. Helen attended grade school in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School. February 23, 1936, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Hastings, Nebraska, she was united in marriage to Ray C. Uhrmacher. This union was blessed with five children. Ray and Helen lived and farmed near Hastings for many years. In 1944 they moved to a farm east of Cadams, Nebraska, whre they lived for 27 years. After Ray's death, Helen moved to Superior, Nebraska, where she was making her home at the time of her death. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Salem Ladies Circle and Abdal and Cadams Extension Club. Helen enjoyed quilting and needle work. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ray, on March 4, 1978; an infant daughter; one sister, Leona Kothe; and three brothers, Orville, Roy and Gilbert Tanner. Survivors include her children, Catherine Ahrens and her husband Loren of Superior, Nebraska, Virgil Uhrmacher and his wife Cheryl of Cozad, Nebraska, Darrel Uhrmacher and his wife Barbara of Omaha, Nebraska, and Melvin Uhrmacher of Superior, Nebraska; one brother, Vernon Tanner and his wife Mary of Little Falls, Minnesota; two sisters, Laura Silger of Panorama City, California, and Violet Clipper of Bakersfield, California; 11 grandchildren, Lona Anderson, Darin Ahrens, Carla Pierce, Joel Ahrens, Russell Uhrmacher, Julie Stevenson, Jeffrey Uhrmacher, Jeremiah Bowers, Joshua Bowers, Shannon Smidt and Andrew Uhrmacher; three great grandchildren, Tyler Uhrmacher, Tre' Uhrmacher and Payne Ahrens; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 13, 1997, at 2 p.m. from Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, with Pastor Michael Osberg officiating. Burial was in Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
