McCormick, daughter of Samuel and Mattie (Henry) Mardis was born April 27, 1914 at Lewellen, and passed away October 30, 1980 at the Morrill County Hospital at Bridgeport at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 3 days. She lived her entire life in the Lewellen area. She grew up and received her schooling in the Lewellen schools and graduated with the high school class of 1932. On October 8, 1932 she was united in marriage to Cal Kenneth McCormick at Ovid, Colorado and one daughter was born to this union. The family lived on a farm north of Lewellen, where she has lived until moving into Lewellen about 1 year ago. Mr. McCormick passed away in November of 1972. She was a member ,of the United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge of Lewellen. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donova and Victor Santero; four grandchildren, Vicki Van Newkirk, Rex Eugene Santero, Linda Lea Santero, and Jay Dean Santero; 2 great grandchildren, Jamie Jo and Megan Lea Van Newkirk; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ruth Post of Bridgeport, and Mertie Roberts of Lewellen, many other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brother. Services were held Monday morning at the Methodist Church in Lewellen with Rev. Conley Hinrichs officiating. Music was by Dennis Hutson. Honorary pallbearers were James McCormick, Everett McCormick, Roy McLaughlin, Bill Dettman, Keith McCormick and Alford Smith. Active pallbearers were Albert Brown, Eugene Santero, Bruce Roberts, Terry Brown, Neil McCormick and Dallas Lake. Burial was in Ash Hollow Cemetery at Lewellen. Holechek Services was in charge of arrangements.
