STORTZ DIES LAST EVENING Had spent entire life in county; many relatives here Henry Stortz died at 10:00 yesterday evening at his home four miles north of Fairfield, at the age of 59. He had been in failing health for five years, and seriously ill for 18 months. Mr. Stortz was born on Oct. 25, 1878, in Iowa. On Feb. 24, 1915 he married Archidelphia Nelson. He had spent his entire life in Jefferson county. He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Mrs. Helen McNew of Fairfield, and Margaret, Williard** and Betty Louise* at home. Another daughter died in infancy. Also surviving are four brothers: Irvin (sic), of Pleasant Plain; Harry and Lawrence of Fairfield; Joe of Lockridge and Ben of Pomona, Calif.; and four sisters: Mrs. Alex Schlarbaum, of Brighton; Mrs. Lena Taglauer of Brighton; Mrs. Frank Flinspach of Fairfield; and Mrs. John Martinez of Port (sic. Fort) Bidwell, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Monday afternoon, at the Hoskins Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. S.P. Williamson. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. ------------- * Daughter Bettye Louise Stortz married Jack Blakeley, Jr. who died on March 24, 2005 and is buried in Evergreen cemetery (2nd.266). As of Feb. 2014 it is presumed that she is still living. ** Willard Raymond Stortz died on April 23, 1998. His wife, Rosanna M. Greiner Stortz died on April 26, 1996. Both are listed in their Fairfield Ledger obituaries as having been buried in "St. Peter and Paul Cemetery" in Clear Creek. There is a F/A/G cemetery by that name in Johnson county, Iowa - but this contributor is not entirely sure if it is the correct one for these Stortz burials. Any clarification would be appreciated.
