Serving as pallbearers were: John Gattermeir, Almon Gattermeir, Priest Allee, Howard McMillan, Joe Miller, and Herbert Hecht. Mr. Wieneke was born in Moniteau County, east of California, Mo. October 26, 1861. He was the son of Christopher and Wilhelma Wieneke. In 1884, he joined with the late J.G. Erhart in the purchase of the Hart Store in Olean and continued in the mercantile business until 1901. Two years later he went to California as manager of the Woolen Mills there, returning to Olean in 1914. He served as postmaster at Olean from 1922 until his retirement, February 1, 1940. He married Miss Charlotte Moore, daughter of Major and Mrs. J.W. Moore of California, Mo., on February 11, 1889, and eight children were born to them. Three sons have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife; three sons, and two daughters: Henry Wieneke of Boundbrook, N.J., John, Richard, Louise and Mrs. W.H. Bodamer of Olean, Mo.; and one granddaughter, Charlotte Bodamer of Olean. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Haldiman of California, Mo., and Mrs. Ida Haeberle of St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Wieneke joined the Evangelical Church at California when a young man and later became a member of the Presbyterian Church there. He was a member of the Masonic Order for almost fifty years.
