Description	:	OBITUARY: - Cambridge paper Henry Bascom Brown, son of Peter and Catherine Brown, was born October 31, 1878 on a farm near Maxwell. On May 2, 1899, he was united in marriage to Clara Belle Hanks at the Methodist parsonage in Nevada, Iowa. Read More	OBITUARY: - Cambridge paper Henry Bascom Brown, son of Peter and Catherine Brown, was born October 31, 1878 on a farm near Maxwell. On May 2, 1899, he was united in marriage to Clara Belle Hanks at the Methodist parsonage in Nevada, Iowa. To this union were born three daughters, Gladys, Mrs. Harold McBride of Nevada; Thelma, Mrs. Howard Severson of Ames; and Esther, Mrs. Ivin Elliott of Cambridge; three sons, Arthur of Nevada, John of Des Moines, and Guy of Murray, Utah. He was taken to Story County Hospital February 22, and died March 30, 1962 at the age of 83 years and 5 months. He lived his entire life in Story County where he was engaged in farming until ill health forced him to retire in 1951. He was an active member of the Methodist Church in Cambridge until a few years ago. Following the death of his wife, he lived alone until two years ago when he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law Mr and Mrs Howard Severson of Ames. Surviving are his six children, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Laura Callen and one brother, Aldelbert Brown of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara, three sisters Nellie Olinger, Ada Rupp & Ida Palmer, two brothers Ross Brown, Lewis Brown, two granddaughters Ethel Brown. Carole Elliott, & two great granddaughters Rebecca Severson, Jennie Smith. Funeral services for Henry Brown were held Tuesday April 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cambridge Methodist Church. The Rev. J.E. McClellan officiated. Arlin Severson sang "Good Night Here and Good Morning Up There" and "Sweet Bye and Bye". He was accompained by Mrs. Neomi Gardner. Mrs. Marie Lee and Mrs. Audrey Jordan took care of the flowers. Casket bearers were the grandsons: Marvin McBride, Herbert Severson, Duane Severson, Glen Brown, Ronald Elliott and Orville Hauge, grandson-in-law. Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery.
