(The typo's are copied as per the original) ------------------------------------------- Henry Carl Kuker was born in Hanover, Germany, Feb. 14, 1843; died near Barada, Neb., Aug. 19, 1919 aged 76 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was united in marriage with Louise Tiece and to this union four children, Henry, Emma, Anna and William were born and all survive him. With his family he left Hanover in 1870 and came to Richardson county. His wife died in 1879. On September 11, 1881, he was married to Louise Meinheit and to this union six children were born, Charlie, Mata, (deceased), Edward, Louis, Bertha and John. While in Germany Mr. Kuker united with the Lutheran church and remained a devoted member of that body for the rest of his life. For 49 years he made his home in this community. His only absence being that of a summer spent in the homeland. During that time his honest, upright life had gathered to him the whole country side for his friends. "Uncle Charlie", as he was familiarly called, will be greatly missed throughout the community. The Cyclone that in 1918 visited that section destroyed his home and rendered him serious injuries from which he never fully recovered and which no doubt hastened his end, but it was a privilege to rebuild his home and to meet death where he had passed his happy home life. Funeral services were conducted from the Evangelical church at Barada by Rev. J. R. Flint on Thursday, Aug. 21, and his remains laid to rest in Harris cemetery.
