Description	:	Henry C. Lauer, son of William and Anna Lauer, was born March 1, 1865, at Independence, Iowa. In infancy he was baptized in the name of the Triune God and later in youth confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Spring Creek, Iowa, by Pator C. E. Wiederanders. At the age of twenty years he came to Lexington, Nebraska and soon thereafter, in 1885, removed to Gothenburg. On November 8, 1888 he was united in marriage to Nanke Frerichs. Lauer, son of William and Anna Lauer, was born March 1, 1865, at Independence, Iowa. In infancy he was baptized in the name of the Triune God and later in youth confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Spring Creek, Iowa, by Pator C. E. Wiederanders. At the age of twenty years he came to Lexington, Nebraska and soon thereafter, in 1885, removed to Gothenburg. On November 8, 1888 he was united in marriage to Nanke Frerichs. This couple established their home on the farm northeast of Gothenburg. It was a Christian home in which the children were to be reared on the nurture of the Lord. This union was blessed with ten children, three of whom, Elizabeth Herman and Tenja passed away in childhood. The wife and mother was called to her eternal reward on February 26, 1909. The deceased had been an industrious and successful farmer; a member of Christ Lutheran Church since his affiliation with it almost sixty years ago. He had enjoyed good health throughout his life, and his departure was one in which he was spared prolonged sickness and suffering. He became ill on July 2nd, and was taken on July 3rd, having attained the age of 78 years, 4 months and 2 days. He leaves to mourn his departure, four sons: William and Edward of Cozad, Jim of Gothenburg, Sergeant Henry with U. S. Army at Camp Davis, North Carolina; three daughters: Mrs. Anna Fickenscher, Mrs. Helena Ostendorf and Mrs. Dorothea Hicken, all of Gothenburg. Two brothers, E. J. of Delmont, South Dakota and F. J. of Spokane, Washington, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, besides many relatives and friends mourn his loss. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Christ Lutheran Church and were in charge of the pastor, Reverend E. G. Ihrig. Pallbearers were Willie, Herman and Walter Hoch, Claus and Harm Garelts and John Sitorus.
