Description	:	William Henry Lauer was born August 4, 1889 at Gothenburg, Nebraska. He was the oldest child of Henry C. and Nantke Lauer. William was baptized August 18, 1889 by Pastor Carl Wideranders at the Christ Lutheran Church and was confirmed on April 16, 1906 by Pastor L. C. Lentz. He was married to Minnie Mueller on April 18, 1917 at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor C Routensrauss. William was a farmer and had farmed north of Gothenburg until he and his wife retired in Gothenburg in 1953. William was an active member of American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. William was a farmer and had farmed north of Gothenburg until he and his wife retired in Gothenburg in 1953. William was an active member of American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. He died at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 28, at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife, Minnie; and daughter, Irene, Mrs. Raymond Janssen; four sons: Melvin of Holdrege, Robert of Gothenburg, Roland of Cozad and Willard of Wichita, Kansas, also 21 grandchildren; one brother, Henry and two sisters, Helena Ostendorf and Dorothy, Mrs. Frank Hicken. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters, Herman, Tena, and Elizabeth died in childhood. Ed, John and Anna Fichenchler died later in life. Lutheran Church on Friday, April 30, 1962, with Reverend Kenneth Franzen officiating. Musicians were the American Quartet and Mrs. Gene Block, acompanist. Casket bearers were Lee Janssen, James Luther, Stephen Lauer, Timothy Lauer, Micheal Lauer and Ronald Janssen. Interment was in the American Lutheran Cemetery. -From Marlys Benitah collection, Thursday, May 6, 1982, 29, transcribed by Rhonda Holton ---------------------- GOTHENBURG -- Services for William Lauer were Friday at the American Lutheran Church with the Reverend Kenneth Franzen officiating. Music was by the American Lutheran Church Men's Double Quartet and Mrs. Gene Block. Pallbearers were Lee and Ronald Janssen, James, Steven, Timothy and Michael Lauer. Burial was in the American Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Lauer, 92, died Wednesday in the Gothenburg hospital. He was born August 4, 1889 in Gothenburg. He was a farmer in the Gothenburg area and moved into town in 1953. A memorial had been established to the church or the Martin Luther Home in Beatrice.
