Description	:	Henry F. Meinke was born May 5, 1862 in Gansville, Clayton County, Iowa, the third child of Mr. and Mrs. John Meinke, both deceased. Early in infancy he was made a child of God and member of the Lutheran church, being baptized Nov 7, same year. When he was six months of age his parents came to Nebraska, settling near Nebraska City. There they resided six years, coming thence to Lancaster county. Meinke was born May 5, 1862 in Gansville, Clayton County, Iowa, the third child of Mr. and Mrs. John Meinke, both deceased. Early in infancy he was made a child of God and member of the Lutheran church, being baptized Nov 7, same year. When he was six months of age his parents came to Nebraska, settling near Nebraska City. There they resided six years, coming thence to Lancaster county. Owing to primitive conditions his schooling was meager; however, his parents did not neglect their principal duty. He was instructed and confirmed by Rev. Haessler Apr 9, 1976. On the 14th of May 1891, he entered the estate of holy matrimony with Louise Henning. This happy union was blessed with two children, Louis and Amelia (Mrs. August Mundt). After his marriage he moved to the farm in Saline county, now occupied by his son. There he resided 25 years and became a successful farmer. In 1916 he retired and moved to Crete and has lived on North Main street ever since. He was of robust nature and apparently in good health. But Sunday night at 12:10 his end came suddenly but peacefully. He reached the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 13 days, being survived by his wife, two children, two brothers, two sisters, 13 grandchildren, and a host of friends who mourn his sudden demise. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Kramer cemetery. Source: The Crete News, March 21, 1929
