Description	:	Mrs. Louise Anna Meinke, nee Henning, was born July 18, 1873 in Olive Branch precinct, Lancaster county, northeast of Kramer, as the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Henning. Early, she was made a child of God through the Sacrament of holy baptism, this being performed Dec 6, 1873 by Rev. Traugott Haessler, then pastor at Kramer. Read More	Mrs. Louise Anna Meinke, nee Henning, was born July 18, 1873 in Olive Branch precinct, Lancaster county, northeast of Kramer, as the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Henning. Early, she was made a child of God through the Sacrament of holy baptism, this being performed Dec 6, 1873 by Rev. Traugott Haessler, then pastor at Kramer. However, her parents did not only have her baptized, they also had her instructed in the word of God and the doctrines of the Lutheran church. This instruction was given by Rev. L. Huber. On April 18, 1886 she was received into communicant membership with the church through the rite of confirmation, receiving as her memory verse, Matthew 7, 13-14. On May 14, 1891 she entered the estate of holy wedlock with Henry Meinke, to whom she was a faithful spouse until his sudden death, March 18, 1929. This happy union was blessed with two children, Amelia, wife of August Mundt and Louis. From the time of her marriage until 1916, she resided with her family on the farm now occupied by the son. In the spring of that year, she moved to Crete with her husband, residing on North Main street. Six years ago she submitted to a surgical operation and apparently enjoyed good health until last spring, when she began to fail. Medical examinations were taken which disclosed the treacherous and fatal disease, cancer of the liver. Since the latter part of June, she was confined to her bed. During this time she was with her daughter. The best of care and attention was given her but in vain. Her sick bed became her death bed. She departed this life Sun morning at 4:00 o'clock, having spent her life well before God and man. She attained the age of 60 years, 2 months, and 20 days, being survived by her two children, 2 sisters, 5 brothers, and 14 grandchildren, besides a host of friends and distant relatives. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from the Lutheran church, the pastor in charge. Interment was made in the Kramer cemetery beside her husband, there to rest until the great resurrection, when she shall be fully rewarded for what she has done.
