Brown, who died at his home near Emden Monday, following a paralytic stroke, were held yesterday at 11 a. m., at the Emden Baptist church, conducted by Reverend G. W. Humphrey of Maywood. Mr. Brown was one of Shelby county's best known citizens, and a successful farmer and stockman. He was born in Virginia, June 24, 1843. Brown, who died at his home near Emden Monday, following a paralytic stroke, were held yesterday at 11 a. m., at the Emden Baptist church, conducted by Reverend G. W. Humphrey of Maywood. Mr. Brown was one of Shelby county's best known citizens, and a successful farmer and stockman. He was born in Virginia, June 24, 1843. He came to Missouri when a young man, and had resided in Shelby county for the past thirty-two years. For the last few years, he had devoted his time to the raising of thoroughbred cattle. Deceased was married three times: first two wives, Lottie and Margaret Muldrow, being sisters. Both are dead. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Belle Brown, and seven children: two sons and five daughters. The two sons, Edward and Fred Brown, and one daughter, Jean Brown, are residents of this county. Mr. Brown was a member of the Shelbyville Presbyterian church. He formerly lived there, and has many friends in this community. - The Quincy Daily Herald, Thursday, December 9, 1920; page 13.
