For more than thirteen years the deceased has resided near Orchard, Nebraska, and his departure is not only mourned by the immediate relatives but also by many acquaintances, friends and the entire Evangelical Lutheran congregation. He was a devout follower of Jesus, the Savior of all mankind. Ever bearing in mind that in this world we are but strangers and pilgrims, his heart and affections were not on the things of this world but heaven, our true and eternal home. Hence during the entire time of sickness, nearly two years, he never complained of the affliction that fell to his lot but found comfort in the great apostle's word, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Henry Mosel, Sr., was born 25 December 1850 in Vorderhagen, Germany. In the year 1865 he emigrated to the United States. He resided in Chicago and Blue Hill, Illinois., thence near Hooper, Nebraska, and the last 14 years near and in Orchard, Nebraska. In the year 1874 the deceased entered into holy wedlock with Louise or Louisa Walter of Chicago, Illinois. This union was blessed with seven children, 2 of whom preceded their father to their heavenly home. Having been bereaved of his first wife (Louse or Louisa Walter) in the year 1887, he was united in holy matrimony with Sophie Luft of Pekin, Illinois, 16 January 1889. This union was blessed with 8 children, one of whom preceded him to eternity. Mr. Mosel attained the age of 73 years, 7 months and 24 days. His death was caused by Bright's disease. He is survived by his wife Sophia Mosel and 12 children: Carl of Grant, Nebraska, Mrs. Sorge and Mrs. Juedes of Gurley, Nebraska, Henry, Jr., George, and William of Ewing, Nebraska, Fred, Louis, Ernest, Bertha and Paul of Orchard, Nebraska. "Lord, teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Funeral services were held Thursday, 21 Aug 1924, at 2:30 p.m. at the Lutheran church, interment made in the cemetery at the church. Services were conducted by Rev. Schlecht assisted by Rev. Tiefel of Hadar, Nebraska.
