Mosel, a long time resident of Perkins County, Nebraska, passed away at a Denver hospital following an operation. Mr. Mosel had been ill for a long time, but his death came as a surprise to all except those intimately acquainted with him. Funeral services were held Sunday, 25 July 1948, afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Grant, Nebraska with Rev. L. O. Bittner officiating. Interment was in the Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Lyon Funeral Directors. Carl Henry William Mosel, son of Henry Mosel and his wife Louise or Louisa (Walter) Mosel, was born 16 Jul 1877 at Hooper, Nebraska. On 22 Jul 1877 he was received into the kingdom of Christ by the rite of holy baptism. This baptismal covenant was renewed by the rite of confirmation on 22 Mar 1891. On 2 November 1904 he entered into holy wedlock with Marie Hofius at Pierce, Nebraska. They lived at Hooper, Nebraska from 1904 until 1910, at Orchard, Nebraska, from 1910 to 1918, here in Perkins County, Nebraska, from 1918 to 1940. In 1940 they moved to Woodriver, Nebraska, where they remained until 1945, when they returned to Perkins County, Nebraska, to make their home. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Mrs. Esther Boehmer and a son, Carl Mosel, Jr. There were two children by adoption, Roland and Edwin. Roland preceded him in death on 12 May 1944. Mr. Mosel submitted to an operation on 10 July 1948 at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Death came at 1:30 p.m. 15 July 1948, one day before his seventy-first birthday. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, 3 children, Mrs. Esther Boehmer, Carl Mosel, Jr. and Edwin Mosel, and one daughter-in-law Mrs. Marie Mosel and eight grandchildren, all of Perkins County, 5 brothers, George of Orchard, Nebraska, Louis of Plainview, Nebraska, William of Orchard, Nebraska, Ernest of Lorenzo, Nebraska and Paul of Gurley, Nebraska, 3 sisters, Mrs. Meta Sorge of Columbus, Nebraska, Mrs. Rose Schacht of Orchard, Nebraska, and Regina Juedes of Hubbard, Oregon, and a host of friends.
