Stallings, formerly a resident of Villisca, died Sunday evening at 5 o’clock at his home in Creston, his death resulting from leakage of the heart and Bright’s disease after illness of more than a year. He had been bedfast for three and a half months, and during the last few weeks of his illness some of the members of his family of Villisca were constantly at his side. Stallings, formerly a resident of Villisca, died Sunday evening at 5 o’clock at his home in Creston, his death resulting from leakage of the heart and Bright’s disease after illness of more than a year. He had been bedfast for three and a half months, and during the last few weeks of his illness some of the members of his family of Villisca were constantly at his side. He was born in Lenoir, North Carolina, on April 22, 1890, and was married to Miss Clara Kouba in Creston, Iowa on April 27, 1921. He was the father of two sons, Artie and Robert Stallings. He came to Villisca with his parents at the age of eight years residing here until 1911 when he went to Creston and entered the service of the Burlington Railroad as fireman. He was ready to take the examination for engineer when he fell ill sixteen months ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Fireman. Besides his wife and children of Creston, he leaves also his parents and five brothers and sisters of Villisca. They are Mr. and mrs. Robert P. Stallings, Lee and Thomas Stallings, Mrs. W. J. Shaver, Mrs. Russell Shepherd, and Mrs. John Bowers. The funeral was held at the home in Creston Tuesday morning at 9:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Baumgardner and the body was brought to Villisca on No. 3 that afternoon. A short service was held here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Stallings, parents of the deceased, who with the other Villisca relatives were in Creston for the service in the morning and accompanied the body here, together with a large number of friends from Creston. The service here was i charge of Rev. J. L. Boyd, and interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. The pall bearers, all of Creston, were C. Russell, A. Kleisling, F. Shinfessie, R. Sandall, C. A.
