First marriage was on Nov. 30, 1889 in Jefferson county, Iowa, to Hattie Belle Moorman. They divorced on November 26, 1902 in Jefferson county, Iowa. Subsequently, Hattie remarried on December 14, 1902 to Edwin Harvey Davis. Henry was married in 1904 to Katherine "Kate" Mock Brown and they had two children. Both Henry and Hattie lost their respective spouses in 1930. On March 12, 1935 in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, Henry and Hattie remarried and their marriage continued until the death of Hattie in 1956. Henry's obituary, for whatever reason, omitted mention of the first marriage to Hattie Belle Moorman in 1889. Note: Henry's DOD year 1960 has not been fully engraved on the headstone. ----------- Obituary for Henry S. Brown: Fairfield Ledger June 18, 1960 Pg. 6 Col. 2 Henry Brown Rites Monday Henry S. Brown, 89, retired Fairfield barber, died Friday at Moline, Ill., after a serious illness of several months. He had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Rex Long, since 1957. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist church in charge of Dr. J. Henry Teele. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be taken from the Weston Behner Funeral home to the church at 1 p.m. Brown was born April 16, 1871, at Fairfield. He resided in this community for 50 years. He was married to Kate Mock in 1904. She died in 1930 and in 1935 he was married to Hattie Davis. She preceded him in death June 6, 1956. Brown was a member of the First Methodist church and the Knights of Pythias Lodge No 37. Surviving are a son, Harold R. Brown (see: Harold R Brown), Fairfield, and a daughter, Mrs. Rex Long, Moline, Ill. Two grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
