Description	:	Funeral services for Herbert Bendixen of Cheyenne Wells, were held Monday afternoon at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Rev. A. F. Rinne of Nebraska City, Nebr., officiated at the service. Burial was made in the Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig. Mr. Bendixen died Thursday, August 20, 1959 in Denver, Colorado, after an illness of several months. He was 66 years old. Mr. Bendixen died Thursday, August 20, 1959 in Denver, Colorado, after an illness of several months. He was 66 years old. Herbert Henry Bendixen was born June 6, 1893, in Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Agnes (Friedrichsen) Bendixen. He was baptized and confirmed in Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church and received his education in the community. He was united in marriage to Lillian Petersen on December 17, 1913 in Schleswig. They were blessed with one son, Henry. They moved to a farm east of Schleswig until 1926, when the family moved to a farm in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. They spent one year, 1931 to 1932, in Erie, Colorado and then returned to Cheyenne Wells in 1934. Mrs. Bendixen died in 1951. He had been in failing health for some time. He underwent surgery on July 2, and since that time, has been confined to hospitals in Cheyenne Wells and in Denver. Surviving are one son, Henry Bendixen and wife, Helen of Cheyenne Wells, Colo.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Julius (Ella) Else and Mrs. Broder (Selma) Petersen, both of Schleswig, Iowa, and Mrs. Ed (Hattie) Lehman of Denison, Iowa; and many other relations and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lillian, a grandson, Leon Bendixen, a sister, Minnie Struck and a brother, John Bendixen. Schleswig Leader, Aug 27, 1959
