(NOTE: Typed as written in newspaper) The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 11, 1968; pg. 1 ============================ Mr. Alfred (sic) Herman Janssen was born April 21, 1896 in Syracuse, Nebraska to Henry Garrett Janssen and Weubka (sic) (Gardless) Janssen. He was one of four boys and three girls in the family. His early education was in Nebraska. During World War I, he served in the Army. On November 17, 1928, he was married to Miss Claudia Ethel Stevens in Clay Center. They moved to Allendale, Mo., soon after marriage where they continued farming. They were both members of Allendale Baptist Church and in this faith, lived and died. Mrs. Janssen died July 27, 1967 in Missouri, and after a lingering illness, he joined her from Good Samaritan Home, Nelson, January 8, 1968. His parents, two brothers, Ben and Bill, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Comstock, preceeded (sic) him. Surviving are one brother, Fred of Nelson, and two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Ritterbush and Mrs. Anna Skinner of Edgar; nieces and nephews. He was a member of World War I Barracks of Nuckolls County. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11, at 2:00 a.m. at the Klawitter Funeral Chapel in Nelson. Reverend Maurice Holt officiated at the services and casket bearers were Paul Littrell, Ralph Mumma, Loy Davidson, Albert Klawitter, Herman Schiermeyer, and Duke Long. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery with arrangements by Klawitter Funeral Home of Nelson. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 18, 1968; pg. 4
