Beisner, son of Fred Beisner and Anna Sophia Dorothea Engelking, was born near Elgin, Ill., Feb. 9, 1871, and soon after birth was baptized in the Christian faith. In his early youth, his parents came from Illinois to Webster City in a covered wagon. He received his secular schooling and religious instruction in this territory, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He chose farming as his lifes work, settling in south Vernon township, where he lived until his retirement in 1937, when due to declining health he moved to Williams. His physical handicap gradually became worse, and since March of this year he was confined to his bed entirely. He died at his home on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 19, reaching the age of 72 years, 7 months and 10 days. On March 9, 1897, he was united in marriage with Augusta Bauman. To this union seven children were born, Fred, Inez (Mrs. Griffith Jacobson), Everett, Frank of Dows; and Elsa (Mrs. Clarence Domres), and Leonard of Williams. Another son, Lawrence, pre-deceased his father when he was accidentally killed in 1935. He leaves to mourn besides his wife and family, 17 grandchildren, two sisters: Mrs. Caroline Lutzke, of Chugwater, Wyo. and Mrs. Martha Birkholz, of Hebron, Nebr. Mr. Beisner, being a public-spirited man, was well known in this community and beyond. He was a charter member of Vernon Lutheran church, and helped build it and gave it his personal support at all times. Funeral services were held in Vernon Lutheran church Sept. 22 with the Rev. H. Foege in charge. The remains were laid to rest in Vernon township cemetery adjoining the church. Pallbearers were Frank, Everett, Leonard and Donald Beisner, Clarence Domres, and Griffith Jacobson. Messers. Leonard Jacobson and C. F. Peterson sang the following songs: Face to Face, Saved by Grace, and Ivory Palaces. Attend Services Williams Out of town relatives and friends who attended funeral services for Herman C. Beisner here were Mr. and Mrs. John Ullum, Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Bauman of Charles City, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lutzke and Robert Kelm of Hampton, Charles Kelm, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carter, John Jansen of Alden, Mrs. Katherine Adix and daughter, Erna, Miss Louisa Defries of Manchester. Also Mr. and Mrs. Jay Dick, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fielder, Max Hemingway, Mrs. Henry Tapper, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Tapper of Webster City, Mr. and Mrs. John Tapper of Kamrar, Miss Mildred Beisner of Des Moines, Vernon Birkholz of Hebron, Neb.
