Description	:	Herman Fredrick Giesman, son of Fredrick Giesman and his wife Johanna nee Jung, was born in East Friesland, Germany on August 6, 1866.There he was baptized and confirmed. He was the son of farm people and his whole life was devoted to farming with the exception of three years military service which was required of young able-bodied men in Germany in his day. He came to the United States at the age of 24 and made his home with his brother, John near Vesta. For several years he worked as a hired man on farms in Johnson and Nemaha county.... Read More	Herman Fredrick Giesman, son of Fredrick Giesman and his wife Johanna nee Jung, was born in East Friesland, Germany on August 6, 1866.There he was baptized and confirmed. He was the son of farm people and his whole life was devoted to farming with the exception of three years military service which was required of young able-bodied men in Germany in his day. He came to the United States at the age of 24 and made his home with his brother, John near Vesta. For several years he worked as a hired man on farms in Johnson and Nemaha county. On November 16 1894, he was united in marriage with Miss Adelheid Schmidt. In 1944,they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. To this union were born eleven children, one of whom died in infancy. The family continued to live on the farm. They came to Gage County in 1895 and lived on a farm in Hanover township for five years. In 1903, he bought the farm in Holt township three and one half miles southeast of St. Paul's Lutheran (Soap Creek) church which was his home the rest of his life. He was a faithful member of this congregation during this time. He passed away April 24 at the age of 82 years, eight months and 18 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday April 27 at St. Paul's Lutheran church with burial in the church cemetery. Surviving are the widow; ten children Hannah(Mrs. John Schmidt) Upland Nebraska,Herman of Beatrice, Fred of Adams,Christine(Mrs. Walter Forke) Beatrice, Sena (Mrs Siebend Ideus) Beatrice, William Beatrice,Emma (Mrs. Gerald Titkemeier) Clatonia, John of Pickrell, Dora(Mrs Harvey Har Boese)Pickrell and Henry at home.23 grandchildren and five great grand children
