Hilyen was born March 11, 1841, in Whitedeer Valley, Pa. and died at the home of her son near Case, Colorado Jan. 2, 1903, aged 61 years, 9 mos and 21 days. She was married in 1860 to Anthony Hilyen. Hilyen was born March 11, 1841, in Whitedeer Valley, Pa. and died at the home of her son near Case, Colorado Jan. 2, 1903, aged 61 years, 9 mos and 21 days. She was married in 1860 to Anthony Hilyen. He preceded her to the Celestial City in 1884. To this union were born seven children, five boys and two girls, all of whom were present to mourn her departure and lay her to rest forever. Her last sickness, though painful, was borne with quiet patience. She was a loving and kind mother, and will be greatly missed, especially in the home. The funeral was conducted at the family residence Sunday noon by Rev. A.F. Ragatz, of Castle Rock. A large number of friends followed the remains to their last resting place in the Case cemetery. The mourning friends have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in this sad bereavement. "How sad, how sad it is to part With dear mother, so near our heart. But God's own will it must be done, And death is what we cannot shun. To you, our dear mother, we bid when, While life shall last we'll think of you. O, may God with grace and love, Prepare our souls to meet above."
