Cherokee Sentinel, Dec. 18, 1936, page 1: Mrs. Eleanor Lisenbee Dead Mrs. Eleanor Lisenbee, 75, died at 5 o'clock Sunday morning in the Girard hospital, where she had been taken on Thursday, following a stroke. She was the widow of the late T.J. Lisenbee. Mrs. Lisenbee was born in Muscatine, Iowa, February 17, 1861, but came to this vicinity when just a girl with her parents, Capt. and Mrs. A.B. Wiles. We cannot remember when we did not know her, both before and after our marriage. She was one of our very best friends and neighbors and lived within a few houses of us for many, many years. Our children were taught to call her Aunt Nell, and her home was always welcome to our family at any hour of the day. After the death of Uncle Tom she went to live with her son in Girard, and has been there, and at the home of her daughter in Chatham, Canada, since leaving Cherokee. She was a past matron of the local Eastern Star lodge and held a membership in the Methodist church. Only immediate survivors are a son, P.R. Lisenbee of Girard and a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Collins of Chatham, Ontario, Canada. Funeral services were held at the Kirkpatrick chapel in Girard Tuesday afternoon with Rev. O.W. Ziedler of the Methodist church in charge. Burial was in the Cherokee cemetery. Pall bearers were nephews, Fred and Charley Wiles, Bill and Roger McCants, A.W. Winter and Ralph Taylor. The O.E.S. gave their rites at the grave.
