Description	:	Homer William Shoop was born November 2, 1916to Ivan and Alta Shoop on a farm outside of Silver City, Iowa. When he was a baby, his parents moved to Walt Hill Nebraska, where his father engaged in faring. After his father's death in 1919, Alta and Homer returned to Emerson where Home resided until his death. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mildred, wife Evelyn, and two infant sons. Read More	Homer William Shoop was born November 2, 1916to Ivan and Alta Shoop on a farm outside of Silver City, Iowa. When he was a baby, his parents moved to Walt Hill Nebraska, where his father engaged in faring. After his father's death in 1919, Alta and Homer returned to Emerson where Home resided until his death. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mildred, wife Evelyn, and two infant sons. In 1949 he married Mary S. Nicholson of Omaha, Nebraska. He operated "Shoop's Cafe" for over 30 years. The cafe was known for the many romances that started there. Home and Mary moved northwest of town to a farm where they lived until 1976, at which time they returned to Emerson because of Homer's failing health. During his farming operations, as a hobby, he operated "Shoop's Chuck Wagon" where he served that and many surrounding communities. After the flood of 1982, he was re=united with his step son, James Wooley of Englewood, Colorado. Home made the statement several times that the last six years were the "best years of his life." He suffered a massive heart attack on January 24th and passed away January 25, 1989. Homer not only loved but was very proud of his community. He was the happiest when he was doing for others.
