Description	:	Obituary from "Ottumwa Courier," March 12, 1947: Howard Taylor Dimmitt, 62, who has been recently working as a checker for the county road department, died at the St. Joseph Hospital at 5 a.m. today. Mr. Dimmitt was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was born in Wapello County, September 20, 1884, the son of Harvey Monroe and Jennie Dimmitt. He had been a resident of Wapello County his entire life, except one year spent in Montana. He was a Presbyterian, and a member of the Eagles lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Lawson, Ottumwa, two sons, Tommy, at home, and Glenn, at Kellog, Idaho, a sister, Mrs. Ella Copeland, Ottumwa, and four brothers, Bert, Roy and Carl of Ottumwa and Elva of Bloomfield. There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild surviving. His wife preceded him in death September 15, 1945. The body is at the Priester funeral home awaiting the completion of funeral arrangements. Funeral Notice from "Ottumwa Courier," March 13, 1947: Funeral services for Howard Taylor Dimmitt, 62, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Priester funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Charles A. Albin, pastor of the Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in Round Point cemetery. Pallbearers will be Delbert Culbertson, Ray Hopkins, Walter Wendlandt, Charles Mills, Ernest Punke and Ora Snow. -------------------------
