Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, in Spirit Lake. Wellington Howard Hanby was born to W. W. Hanby and Anna Roger Hanby at Carroll, IA., on May 14, 1895. He attended school at Carroll. On May 17, 1915 he married Elva Forrest Blew at Lanesboro, IA. One child was born to this union. Hanby farmed all of his adult life near Carroll, Emmetsburg, and Gruver. In 1924 he moved to a farm east of Spirit Lake and farmed until his retirement. Hanby and his wife retired to a small farm south of Spirit Lake. One year ago he moved to the Hilltop Care Center, in Spirit Lake, and lived there until his death. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, in Spirit Lake, the Rebekah and Odd Fellows Lodge for many years. Survivors include bis son, Henry, and daughter-in-law, Jeanne; grandchildren, Diana Sanders, David and William Hanby; great grandchildren, Moya and Aaron Sanders, Dawn and Holly Hanby; grandson-in-law, John Sanders; granddaughters-in-law, Nancy and Cindy Hanby. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva, his parents, and one sister. The Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home, in Spirit Lake, was in charge of arrangements [*Obituary is published in the Spirit Lake Beacon, March 7, 1985.] ----------
