Died - At his residence in Fairfield, Iowa, on the 25th of October, 1860, Mr. HUGH HUSTON, in the 36th year of his age. Hr. H. was born in the Parish of Ballymena, Ireland, where he was brought up under Christian training, and where he was afterwards married to Miss Mary Ann Gilbert. About twelve years ago he removed with his family to the United States, and lived for a time in St. Louis. About ten years ago he removed to Fairfield, and united with the Presbyterian Church, of which he was a consistent and useful member. Although employed in the more humble and laborious walks of life, he always found time for the duties of family and social religion, and sustained a life of humble, steadfast, consistent piety. Greatly afflicted in the loss of his wife and several children, he always found the consolation he needed, the constant communion with his Bible and his God and Savior. After his second marriage in 1856 to Miss Margaret Hudgell, he maintained the same consistent life, and was mainly instrumental in her conversion. A kind husband and faithful parent, he provided well for the temporal and religious necessities of his household. His last affliction was low fever, which, after several relapses, continued for nine weeks, resulting in obstinate diarehrea (sic) and death, During this protracted illness, sympathizing friends witnessed his cheerful and intelligent resignation to the chastisement of his heavenly Father. He desired to live; but it was that he might serve God and truth his household in the good way of life. As he said: "I am in the hands of God: I have no will but his Jesus is all nay hope - all my trust." Having set his affairs in order, and commended his beloved ones to the orphan's father and the widow's God, he calmly fell asleep in Jesus, on the morning of the 25th day of October, in the serene hope of an immediate and triumphant immortality. ---------- The Old Fairfield City Cemetery Lot #3 (20 ft. sq.)
