Read More	UNCLE HUGH LITTLE GONE TO REWARD After 91 years of Earthly Pilgrimage, well known pioneer passes away Friday Night -- Funeral services held from the Methodist Church Sunday at 1:30 At last the curtains are drawn, Uncle Hugh Little has said goodnight and goodbye to all things earthly, and after a pilgrimage of more than 91 years, the well known and highly respected pioneer has passed away, Friday night, January 6, 1911, at the golden age of 91 years and 3 months. Funeral service was held in the Methodist Church at 1:30 o'clock Sunday, which was largely attended by friends, old and young. But Uncle Hughs course has been run, the friend of four generations has passed to his lasting reward, and a great life is thus ended. Hugh Little, son of James and Rebekah Little was born in Sommerset County, Pennsylvania, October 6, 1919 - died in Murray, Iowa, January 6, 1911, aged 91 years and 3 months. While an infant he moved with his parents to New Orleans, La., where his father died within a few weeks after their removal to that city. The Mother immediately returned to her folks in Pennsylvania, but a year later moved to Ohio, in which state he grew to manhood. At the age of 17 years, he learned the millright trade, which he followed for several years but was forced to give up his trade on account of in injured back. Since that time, and until he came to Murray, he was a farmer In the year 1849, he was united in marriage with Mariah Stiffler. In 1864, Mr. & Mrs. Little immigrated to Iowa and in October of that year settled in Madison County for the winter. The following spring they moved to a farm in Washington township, Clarke County, and have since resided within our county. A few years later they purchased 80 acres four miles northeast of Murray [ which is now a part of the L.A. Browns farm] where they lived until moving to Murray in 1896 To Mr. & Mrs Little were born nine children, as follows and all of this community except as noted : ALVIN, HESTER ANN AGANS, MARGARET DAY, JOHN of Oklahoma, JAMES [deceased] WESLEY, MARY ELIZABETH BROWNS, and two sons who died infancy. The deceased united with the Protestant Methodist Church several years ago, but since coming to Murray has never transfered his membership to one of the other denominations of the city. He, however, attended services at the Methodist Episcopal Church and was recognized as a faithful member of the congregation.
