Burial was had in the Murray Cemetery under the direction of the Watts Funeral Service. Burial was had in the Murray Cemetery under the direction of the Watts Funeral Service. Mrs Margaret Day, daughter of Hugh and Mariah Stiffler Little was born January 6, 1854 near New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas County, Ohio and died August 28, 1937 at the age of 83 years, seven months and 22 days. When she was 10 years of age her parents moved to Clarke County, Iowa settling near Laporte, afterwards moving to a farm six miles northeast of Murray, Iowa. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Thomas Wesley Day on October 5, 1871 and to them were born, six children, four sons and two daughters. Two sons died in infancy and one daughter, Ruby Swanson passed away in 1918. Mr & Mrs Day settled on a farm three and a half miles north of Murray soon after their marriage and remained there for six years, thence removing to Kansas for a period of three years, then back to the farm northeast of Murray. In 1898 they came to make their home in Murray and have been a part of the community for the past thirty nine years. On March 8, 1913, Mrs Day was bereaved of her husband by death, but has been her own housekeeper until a short time before her death. When a young woman, Mrs Day united with the Union Church north of Murray and when she came to live in Murray, she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church here. She took her church membership seriously and lived a faithful, devoted Christian life. She leaves to mourn her passing, her three children - BRYAN of Lorimor, Iowa - ROY of Murray, Iowa and MARY JANE DAVIS of Rushville, Nebraska, also 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters - MRS HESTER AGANS of Albia, Iowa and MRS LOU BROWNS of Murray
