Description	:	Funeral services were held Thursday, February 28, 1980 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake for Hugo H. Rohde, 74, of Wall Lake. Mr. Rohde passed away Saturday, February 23, 1980, at Meaa Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Arizona, where he was vacationing. The Rev. Richard Becker officiated at the services. Interment was made in the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Wall Lake. Roland Erickson was the organist and accompanied congregational singing. The flower committee was Mrs. Leonard Dreessen, Mrs. Wilma Gosch and Mrs. Roland Erickson. Hugo Rohde was born August 26, 1905, a son of Gustaf and Ida Voss Rohde. On November 27, 1929, he was united in marriage to LaVerna Dose at the Wheatland Presbytarian Church, Breda. In 1926 Hugo began working for Ray Wright. In the spring of 1927 Hugo bought a truck of his own. Hugo and A.J. Rohde bought the John Tjaden Truck and Transfer business in 1929, which they operated as Rohde Transfer until 1938. At that time Hugo bought out his partner and operated the business on his own. In 1957 he sold the business to J.L. Mack and Orville Herrig. After that time he conducted a livestock buying and selling business from his home. Hugo served on the City Council for nine terms, from 1946 until 1964. Survivors include his wife, LaVerna of Wall Lake; a sister, Laura Wright of Wall Lake; a brother Gust Rohde of Storm Lake; a half-sister, Mrs. William (Josephine) Drost, Sr., of Wall Lake; and a half-brother, Earl Flink of Odebolt. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Casjen Flink; a brother, Martin; a sister, Lois; two half-brothers, Lee and Vernice Flink; and a half-sister, Ione.
