GOLDENDALE, Wash., April 15.-(Special)-Mrs. H. M. Myers died at the home of her son, Alex Hamilton, in Goldendale, Wash., April 9, aged 73 years. She was born in Tennessee, passed her childhood in Arkansas, crossed the plains in 1856 with her husband and two small children, settled at Lafayette, Yamhill County, Or., where she lived until 1881, when she moved to her late home, Goldendale. She was the mother of nine children, seven of whom are living, 29 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Christian Church. ******************************************************** The Oregon Daily Journal, November 4, 1902: Miss Lizzie L. Hamilton of this city and her mother, Mrs. H.M. Myers, Goldendale, leave today for Texas to spend the winter visiting relatives. ****************************************************** The Layfayette Courier, March 1874: Yesterday afternoon Mr. John Myers, of this place, was taken with a sudden and rather severe fit. Myers had been drinking quite freely, and had just seated himself at the card table, when he gasped for breath a number of times, clutched his hands and fell heavily to the floor, where he lay for a few minutes, and then arose and slowly made his way towards home. ****************************************************** The Layfayette Courier, April 1874: STRANGE CONDUCT OF A WOMAN. - On yesterday, late in the afternoon, Mrs. John Myers, residing near the Eagle hotel, deliberately got up, and without any warning, further than to throw an old shawl over her head and shoulders, went from the house leaving her husband holding the babe. She proceeded to the Lone Star saloon and called for a bottle of brandy, having the same charged to her husband. Taking the brandy she proceeded to the ferry and crossed over, saying that she was going to her daughter's, living near Dallas, Polk county. Whether she pursued her solitary trudge through the mud all night or whether she put up when darkness overtook her is not known. Her husband says she had threatened to take this step some days before. It is thought the woman was laboring under aberration of the mind. A temporary separation took place between herself and her husband some time ago, she bringing the children from their farm near Wappe to Lake, to this place. We understand that she had signified her intention to "leave the children next time." and this may be the time she had in view. It is sad to contemplate a case like this. ****************************************************** The Layfayette Courier, September 1874: HEAD CUT. - On last Wednesday evening John Myers visited the residence of Mrs. Myers - who was lately divorced from him - who is living in the suburbs of this place, ostensibly with the intention of repairing her fence. After finishing his work, he says, he went into the house to rest, and while playing with the children was approached by Mrs. Myers, who ordered him to leave the house, which he did after being assailed with a "little hatchet" and getting quite a gash in his head. From what we could learn the woman was perfectly justified in what she did. ******************************************************** Married William Hamilton on July 10, 1851 in Franklin Co., Arkansas.
