Description	:	Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 2 p. m. Thursday, April 23. for Mrs. Ida Briggs with Rev. J. E. England. pastor of the Methodist Church, and G. W Blenkhorn of Princeton, Nebraska in charge. Ida Ellen Bennett, daughter of Erastus and Sarah Ellen Hoover Bennett, was born at Oskaloosa, August 22, I872 and passed away April 21, 1953 at her home in Emerson at tho age of 80 years. Ida Ellen Bennett, daughter of Erastus and Sarah Ellen Hoover Bennett, was born at Oskaloosa, August 22, I872 and passed away April 21, 1953 at her home in Emerson at tho age of 80 years. She was united in marriage to Clarence William Briggs, December 10, 1920 at Wayne, Nebraska. Ten children were born to this union, seven of whom survive. They are: Ethel, Merrill, Ansil and Lynn all of Omaha, Nebraska, Earl of Willow, California, Alta of Long Beach, California, and Dorothy of Los Angeles, California; also 17 grandchildren. 21 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one brother Earl Bennett, in Red Oak, one brother in Linwood. California; two sisters, one in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and one in California. Her husband preceded her in death in February, 1934. In 1896 the family moved to Emerson and have had their home in this vicinity ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Briggs united with the Emerson Methodist Church in September of 1897. Mrs. Briggs took an active part in the Sunday School work as a teacher and was also a devoted worker in the Womens Missionary Society. Her Christian faith from early has been a tower of strength and guidance for family and they shall remember her fine example for all time to come with thankfulness to God for such a splendid mother. Burial was in the Emerson cemetery. Malvern Leader, Malvern, Iowa, Thursday, April 30, 1953 & The Red Oak Sun, April 23, 1953
