(Ida Mae) Evans in the U.S. Public Health Hospital in Baltimore early Friday morning of last week, following ill health for about 18 months. She was 43 years of age. Mrs. Evans had been under treatment for more than a year, making several visits to the Baltimore hospital, spending as much time as she could at home, and had returned to the hospital only a short time before her death. She was the daughter of Mrs. Catherine Christy Mason and the late Leonard F. Mason, Sr., was born in Crisfield and had lived here all her life. A gracious and vivacious person, Mrs. Evans enjoyed the appreciation of a wide circle of warm friends, for her wit and humor and gaiety and for her serious side, when she went out of her way to be helpful and to bring cheer to those in distress or who were ill. She was held in deep affection by those who knew her well, and respected and admired by everyone. She was a member of Immanuel Methodist Church, of the Asbury Homemakers Club, of the Crisfield Country Club, was active in civic affairs and for some years had been engaged in business with her husband in the Household Hardware Co., on Broadway. At one time she had been an employee of the Bank of Crisfield, and after finishing school here, attended and graduated from the Goldey-Beacom Business College in Wilmington, Del. Funeral services, which were largely attended, were held in Immanuel Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Frank A. Baker, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Crisfield Cemetery. Her casket in the church was banked with a gorgeous array of flowers, sent by relatives and friends to honor her memory, lovely tokens of the affection in which she was held. One of the very lovely sprays was sent by the Crisfield High School Class of 1931, which had 42 members, of which Mrs. Evans was one, and her death is the first one in the circle of 42. Surviving her are her husband, Frank C. Evans, her mother, Mrs. Catherine Christy Mason, two brothers, Mr. Leonard F. Mason of Chincoteague, Va., and Mr. Norman C. Mason of Crisfield, and a half-brother, Mr. William Baker of Crisfield. RELATIVES HERE FOR EVANS FUNERAL Among the relatives who attended the funeral services of Mrs. Frank Evans last Sunday from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cole of Collingswood, N.J., Mr. and Mrs. Chris Haage of Merchantville, N.J., and Mrs. Edward Callahan of Camden, N.J.
