Mr. Mason was born in Crisfield, son of the late Leonard Fillmore Mason, Sr. and Catherine Christy Mason. He was the founder and owner of the Norman C. Mason Coal and Concrete Company here. MASON Norman C. Mason, 58, prominent civic and political leader, died Thursday July 4th in University Hospital, Baltimore, following an illness of several months. Mr. Mason was born in Crisfield, son of the late Leonard Fillmore Mason, Sr. and Catherine Christy Mason. He was the founder and owner of the Norman C. Mason Coal and Concrete Company here. He was a member of the Immanuel Methodist Church and the Crisfield Rotary Club. A political stalwart, since 1950 he was a member of the Democrat State Central Committee of Somerset County and the Liquor Control Board. For a number of years he was a trial magistrate here and a judge with the Maryland Tax Court. For ten years he served as chairman of the Maryland Motion Picture Censor Board, the Somerset County Welfare Board and was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center at Cambridge, Md. In 1964 he was an alternate delegate to the National Convention in Atlantic City. In 1968 he was listed in the publication "Who's Who in American Politics". Mr. Mason reposed at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home here until Sunday when funeral services were held from Immanuel Church at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Robert Thomas officiated. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Bearers were Robert Purnell, H. Parker, Carl Pete Ward, Calvin Gibson, Kendall Wilson and Edward Ward. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eloise Redden Mason, a son, Norman C. Mason, Jr., Dublin, Ireland, a daughter, Mrs. O. L. (Cathy) Tawes III, a brother, Leonard F.
