She married Robert Holmes on April 4, 1948. Ilene woke up each morning thanking God for the day. She put others first and always had a listening ear. In recent years, she enjoyed their cabin on Cedar Mountain, riding their 4-wheelers, rooting for the Utah Jazz, and winning at pinochle. She is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Rob (Amy) Holmes, Sandra (Wayne) Goulden; her grandson, Ben; her sister, Gloria Gregoire Malsch of Grand Island, Nebr., her brothers, Lowell of Clearwater, Kansas, and Ernie (Lois) of Marion, Iowa; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Gregorie, Shirley Girard, Fritz Lefler, Pat Holmes; her brother-in-law, Roger Holmes; also left to cherish her memory are several nieces and nephews. Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Ernest Gregoire; her brother, Ellsworth and infant brother, Buddy. Memorials may be directed to Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion, or one of your choice. Fellowship will be gathered at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Bluff View Cemetery with Rev. Trisha Boese officiating. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion, SD.
