IMO CLARK OF BROOKLYN Imogen Lilliam, oldest daughter of John and Mary Ellen Price Manatt, was born on a farm about four miles east of Brooklyn and passed away after an illness of several months, at her home in Brooklyn, December 2, 1942, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 27 days. She grew to womanhood on the farm, having attended the Carnforth school together with her brothers and sisters, and later entering the high school at Brooklyn. On November 29, 1888, she was united in marriage with Lewis W. Clark of Ladora and they began their married life on his father's farm near that place, some years later moving into Ladora. To this union was born one daughter, Mabel, now Mrs. Fred Slaymaker of near Carnforth, who remains to cherish the memory of a kind and loving mother. In 1901 the family moved to Carnforth, where she became a member of the Carnforth Congregational church during the pastorate of the Rev. C. W. Hempstead (1908-1913). Her husband passed away in February, 1916, and in 1921 she moved to Brooklyn, where she had since made her home. On April 4, 1926, she transferred her membership from the Carnforth church to the Presbyterian church, of Brooklyn and was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted. She was of a quiet and unassuming nature and won the respect of her friends and neighbors. She has fought the good fight, she has finished the course, she has kept the faith. Besides her daughter, she leaves one granddaughter, Mrs. Fred Bartachek of near Brooklyn and three great-grandchildre, Roger, Eugene and Dolores Bartacheck. She was one of a fammily of eight children. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Graves if Winterset, Iowa, and Mrs. Clara Nelson of Pomerey, and by five brothers, Frank Manatt of Marion, Iowa, Charles of Cedar Rapids, John and Clyde of Victor and Jay of Brooklyn and an uncle A. W. Manatt of Brooklyn, also many other relatives and friends. -by Frances Manatt Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Presbyterian church in Brooklyn, with the Rev. C. W. Hempstead of Des Moines officiating, assisted by the Rev. E W. F. Holler of Brooklyn. Mrs. George Montgomery and Mrs. Mae Armstrong sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," with Thursia Manatt at the organ. Pall bearers were Earl and Ralph Shaw, Ed Bartachek, Henry and Gerald Manatt and Gerald, Jr. Interment was beside her husband in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor. -------------------------------------------------- Two more siblings: Frank Eugene Manatt Charles Watson Manatt
