(Brown) Lane. She had one brother for sure, Every D. Lane, who died young, and I believe that the headstone right next to Every's, with the name engraved as Lucius M. Lane, is the brother, rather than hthe father, and I believe he may have died young as well. In 1889 Iowa's mother, Mary, died and In 1900 Iowa lived with her maternal grandfather, John R. Brown. Her aunt, Clarissa (Brown) Lane, and her uncle, George B. Lane (who was Clarissa's husband), lived in the house also. Her mother and her aunt, Mary Brown and Clarissa Brown, were sisters; and her father and her uncle, Lucius Bashall Lane and George B. Lane, were brothers, i.e. the two Brown sisters married the two Lane brothers. After the death of Iowa's mother, her father, Lucius Bashall Lane, married 2nd Ella Florence Rhodes. With her he had 4 children: Bernard b. 1894, Daisy b. 1896, William b. 1905, and Ruby b. 1907. Iowa Catherine Lane was married three times: 1st marriage to a Williams - possibly Archie P. Williams on August 8, 1917 in Seattle, King County, Washington. 2nd marriage to Edward Patterson on December 26, 1927 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was the son of John and Ella (Marshall) Patterson. 3rd marriage to Clyde Leo Leaper in about 1929, son of Frederic Leaper, Jr. and Anna Mae (Moore) Leaper. I found no evidence that she had children with any of her three husbands. Before their marriage, in 1917, Clyde registered for service during WWI. He was described as tall, medium build, blue eyes, black hair, and partly balding. At that time he lived in Omaha, Nebraska, was a railroad construction worker, and a teamster. In October of 1918 he was a private in Company G 8th Infantry, and shipped out on the Princess Matoika . On July 17, 1919 he was a private in the Army and was on the ship, Martha Washington, headed home from Brest France. In 1930 Clyde and Iowa Leaper lived in Omaha, Nebraska, and he worked as a laborer in road construction. She had no job outside the home. In 1931 Clyde worked as the manager of Globe Hotel on Douglas Street in Omaha, Nebraska. From about 1934 to 1936 Clyde and Iowa Leaper managed and probably owned "Leaper Apartments" located on Burt Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Clyde also worked as a construction manager, construction forman, Iowa died in 1937, probably in the month of October based on the previous memorial manager's information that her interment was in October 15, 1937. Her third husband, Clyde Leo Leaper, died the following year on April 27, 1938. The couple have matching headstones at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Omaha, Nebraska. The cemetery plot numbers are sequential, so they were probably buried next to one another. There was a legal battle over Iowa and her husband's estate between her (3rd) mother-in-law, Anna May (Moore) Leaper Boxwell, and her half siblings, William, Bernard and Ruby.
