Randy Bader will officiate with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday. She died Friday, April 16, 2010, at Heritage of Bel Air. Memorials may be directed to the Norfolk Senior Center or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church radio broadcast. ——— Irene was born on Sept. 25, 1911, on the family farm northwest of Norfolk, the daughter of Joe and Agnes (Schoenfeldt) Fix. She was baptized on Oct. 29, 1911, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hadar. She was later confirmed in the same church on May 31, 1925. She was raised on the farm, attended rural school and parochial in Hadar. On Sept. 23, 1935, Irene married George O. Sellin at her parents' home. The couple made their home in Colorado for two years before returning to Norfolk. Irene worked for the Singer Company in Norfolk for 21 years as the bookkeeper before retiring in 1973. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She had a lifelong passion for playing cards, which she admitted to always playing to win. Following their retirements, Irene and George loved to go to the Norfolk Senior Center. They especially enjoyed taking the many bus day trips. After the death of her husband on Oct. 30, 1980, Irene continued to live at her home, spending as much time as she could playing cards at the senior center. Irene is survived by her daughter, Donna Sante of Redfield, S.D., eight grandsons and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Ila Haas, one grandson and three brothers.
