Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City .Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. rosary. Irene was born June 14, 1924, at Loup City, the daughter of Joe and Lottie (Kosmicki) Lewandowski. She received her education in Loup City Public Schools, graduating from Loup City High School in 1942. She worked at Farnham Rexall Drug in Loup City and later moved to Lincoln where she worked at Western Electric. She was united in marriage to Leo A. Sok on Nov. 27, 1944, at Loup City. The couple lived and worked in Los Angeles, CA, returning to Nebraska in 1951, where they farmed until 1961. Irene worked at the Loup City Laundromat and Whitehead Insurance Agency until 1967. She then worked for CNCS for the next 20 years, until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and the CCW, Rosary Sodality and Quilting Group. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and an election board worker and at bloodmobiles for many years. Irene enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and playing cards. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and JoAnn Sok of Grand Island and Wayne and Cindy Sok of Loveville, MD; 6 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and 15 great- great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Sok on Aug. 29, 2009; and son, Larry Sok on July 9, 2021.
