Description	:	IRENE BLECHA PAWNEE CITY- Irene Blecha was born February 21, 1916 in Nemaha Co. Kansas and died August 15, 1999 at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital. She was born to Emil and Mary (Robbing) Schultz along with 12 other children: Alice, Marie, Irene, Louise, Anna, Mabel, Josephine, Luella, Nellie, Laura, Mary and brother, Bill. All were reared at DuBois, Nebraska. She attended Prairie Grove country school and DuBois school. Read More	IRENE BLECHA PAWNEE CITY- Irene Blecha was born February 21, 1916 in Nemaha Co. Kansas and died August 15, 1999 at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital. She was born to Emil and Mary (Robbing) Schultz along with 12 other children: Alice, Marie, Irene, Louise, Anna, Mabel, Josephine, Luella, Nellie, Laura, Mary and brother, Bill. All were reared at DuBois, Nebraska. She attended Prairie Grove country school and DuBois school. At about age 10, after the death of her mother, Irene worked in the home of George and Clara Turner for about a year for room and board as did many of her other siblings. Irene met Alvin Blecha and was united in marriage on NOvember 30, 1934 in Falls City, Nebraska. They made their home in Richardson County where they lived most of their married life until 1979. To this union were born 4 children; Ronald Dwain deceased at birth, Lennis, Roxann and Michael. In 1979 Alvin retired from farming and they moved to DuBois where Alvin died in 1987. She continued to live there until February of 1996 when she moved to the Pawnee Village. Irene worked many places in her lifetime: Campbell's Soup, Reno Inn for her sister Josephine (Duryea) Arnold and then for Christine Chapin. She worked in DuBois as a waitress and then at the grocery store for Ben and Jan Lang. Irene enjoyed many things in her life, family and people in general were first on her list. She enjoyed quilting, "CARDS", embroidery and the sports her kids and grandkids were involved in. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Mary Schultz; her husband, Alvin; son, Ronald; sisters, Mable Smith, Louise Brunner, Alice Dennison, Josephine (Duryea) Arnold,Anna Wissler, and Ruth Habegger. Survivors: children, Lennis Blecha,Sr. and wife Glenda; Roxann Buman and husband, Dale; and Michael Blecha and wife, Kathy; four grandchildren; sisters and brother, Luella Baer of Pawnee City, Nellie Hildebrand of Pawnee Manor, Mary Ellen Glenn of Pawnee City, William Schultz of Waco, Texas and Marie Dobrovolny of Denver, Colorado. Funeral services were held Friday, August 20, 1999 at First Christian Church, Pawnee City, With Rev. Mary-Ellen Gaither officiating. Interment was in the DuBois Cemetery.
