Description	:	SERVICES HELD FOR IRVING G. ROSCOE Services were held from the first Presbyterian church Monday afternoon, April 18 at 2:00 p m for Irving G. Roscoe with Rev. Forrest Grimm officiating. He passed away at the Oakland hospital where he had been a patient for more than three months. He had been ill for over a year, much of this time being spent in Sioux City hospitals where he had surgery three times. Mrs. Agnes Walton and Mrs. Noble Nelsen furnished the music accompanied by Mrs. L. L. Shumway at the organ. Pallbearers were: W. E. Burns, L. L. Shumway, Clay Newmyer, James Rutledge, Henry Uehling and Roy Osberg. Interment was at the Lyons cemetery with Piper service in charge. OBITUARY Irving Gilbert Roscoe was born near Lyons on September 1, 1882 to Benjamin and Isabelle Everett Roscoe and spent most of his life in the Lyons community. He graduated from Lyons high school in 1899 and graduated from Des Moines, Iowa college as a pharmacist. He returned to farming which as been his main occupation. On January 24, 1918 he was united in marriage to Josie Buey [sic] Sears of Lyons at Tekamah. In the fall of 1959 he was baptized and became a member of the Presbyterian church. His cheerful disposition and ability to joke under any circumstances will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. The doctors and nurses said he was a good patient and always had a wonderful sense of humor. They would come in and visit him when they had a spare minute. He enjoyed visiting with them so much. He is survived by his wife, Josie, who was at his bedside daily; one daughter, Mrs. Tom Connealy, Decatur; a step-son Max Sears of Decatur; three brothers, Frank and Alva of Lyons and Delmont of Covina, California; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a nephew, nieces and a host of friends. -The Lyons Mirror-Sun, 21 Apr 1960
