Mr. Anderson died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born July 29, 1908, the son of Joseph Thompson and Emma Anderson. He operated a family farm until the mid-1940s, when he moved to Lawrence. He returned to the Clinton area in 1947 to farm. Mr. Anderson died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born July 29, 1908, the son of Joseph Thompson and Emma Anderson. He operated a family farm until the mid-1940s, when he moved to Lawrence. He returned to the Clinton area in 1947 to farm. He also worked at the Sunflower Ordinance Works and Kansas University facilities and operations. In 1959, he became business manager of the Wakarusa Watershed until his retirement in the early-1980s. He remained associated with the watershed until his death. Mr. Anderson was active in many community organizations, including the Clinton and Belvoir school boards, Clinton Telephone Co., Kaw Valley Electric, Clinton Township board and the Clinton Historical Society. He was an elder in the Clinton Presbyterian Church. He married Opal Hollingsworth on Oct. 4, 1931. She died Jan. 4, 1960. He married Thelma Mann on July 28, 1960. She died Sept. 14, 1987. He married Lois Rush on Aug. 3, 1991, in Clinton. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Loren C. Anderson, Overbrook; three stepsons, Tony Johnson, Hondo, Tex., Keith Johnson, Kansas City, Kan., and Kenneth Johnson, Lawrence; four daughters, Barbara Coggburn, Jane Schwartz and Louise Wintermantel, all of Baldwin, and Glenna Jones, Lawrence; a foster daughter, Nodjya Raab, Los Angeles; 13 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
