Iva Luellen Mercer was born June 26, 1892 in Van Buren County, the daughter of David and Laura Taylor Ramsey. She married E. S. Mercer Feb. 1, 1916. They lived in the Collett Community near Birmingham later moving to the Packwood Community where they farmed until their retirement in 1956. They moved to Packwood at that time. Mercer preceded his wife in death July 6, 1971. Mrs. Mercer was a member of the Packwood Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Dale Myers, Mrs. Dean Marshall, both of Packwood; Raymond Mercer, Glendale, Calif.; Dale Mercer, Burbank, Calif.; Mrs. Merle Nelson, Fort Collins, Colo.; Mrs. Walter Huddleston, Amarillo, Texas; Gerald Mercer, Keswick; and Richard Mercer, Salisbury, Md. Others include 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by two sons, three grandchildren, two sisters and five brothers.
