Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased and included John Bock, Howard Arnold, Darrell Versaw, Harold Waechter, Herbert Goll and Carl Goll. Jacob Goll was born in Germany on November 13, 1857, and at the age of nine years came to America with his parents, Michael and Wilhelmina Goll. For a time the family lived in Hastings, later moving to a farm near Blue Hill. The deceased grew to manhood here and on January 13, 1881, was united in marriage to Miss Mary Luhn. Four children were born to this union, Mrs. M.J. Wiest of B.H., Jake and Fred of Hastings. One son, Carl died at the age of one year. Mr. Goll is survived also by one grandson, Staff Sgt. Melvin Wiest of Fort Knox, KY, five brothers and five sisters, Charles, Michael and Wm. Of Blue Hill, Joe of California, and Fred of Hastings; Mrs. Christina Bock of Hastings, Mrs. Katy Siebrass and Mrs. Elizabeth Arnold of Blue Hill, Mrs. Susie Uehle of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Lena Rheigans of Sacramento, California. Mr. Goll spent 41 years of his life in this community. He worked mostly at the blacksmith trade and owned the Blue Hill Machine Shop until 1908, following which the family farmed. Mr. and Mrs. Goll moved to Hastings in 1925, where they have since made their home. The deceased attained the age of 86 years and 12 days. Blue Hill Leader 3 Dec 1943 Front Page
