Description	:	Christina Goll was born on October 8, 1855 in Helmsheim, Baden, Germany, and died in Hastings April 3, 1944 at the age of 88 years, 5 months, 25 days. She came to America with her parents as a child of 12 years. They came to Fondulac, Wisconsin, and lived on a farm. Their first home was a one room log house. Read More	Christina Goll was born on October 8, 1855 in Helmsheim, Baden, Germany, and died in Hastings April 3, 1944 at the age of 88 years, 5 months, 25 days. She came to America with her parents as a child of 12 years. They came to Fondulac, Wisconsin, and lived on a farm. Their first home was a one room log house. Here she received her catechetical instruction, walking 7 miles every other week to attend classes. With the family, she came to Dewitt, Nebraska, in 1878, and in 1883 they moved to the farm home 4 ½ miles southeast of Blue Hill. She continued to live in this community until 5 years ago, since then she has been living in Hastings. She married on December 26, 1883 to John Luhn, who died in May of the following year. On September 10, 1889, she married Phillip H. Bock, who died September 21, 1937. Two of their children also preceded her in death, Herbert, in 1913, and Carl in 1943. Surviving are: Mrs. Gertrude Versaw of Ayr; Mrs. Laura Kerr and Mrs. Cora Melmer of Hastings; and John and Fred Bock, of Blue Hill. She also leaves nine grandchildren: Raymond Kerr and Mrs. Eloise Jones, Virgil and Linden Bock, Herbert and Robert Versaw, Mrs. Madelyn Muhleisen, Mary Jo and Phillip Melmer; and 10 great grand children. Three of the grandchildren are now serving in the armed forces; Virgil Bock, stationed in Ark., Herbert Versaw in China, and Robert Versaw in Corsica. Mrs. Bock was the eldest of a family of eleven children born to Wilhelmina and Michael Goll. A brother, Jacob Goll, died in November 1943. Other brothers and sisters are: Mrs. Susie Ruehle, Mrs. Lena Rheinghans and Joseph Goll of California; Fred Goll of Hastings; Charles, Michael and William Goll, and Mrs. Katie Siebrass and Mrs. Elizabeth Arnold all of Blue Hill. Mrs. Bock was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, also of the Ladies Society, and continued her membership here after moving to Hastings. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon with a prayer service at the Merten Brothers Funeral Home followed by services at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. J.N. Marxen in charge, pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Fred Goll and Paul Yeatman of Hastings; Carl Goll, Herbert Goll, Howard Arnold, and Lebert Leach of Blue Hill.
