Description	:	Jacob Johann Frey, 93, a life-long Bern farmer, died May 26, 1996, at the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home in Sabetha, KS. He was born June 4, 1902, to Fred William and Mary Louise Leunberger Frey, in the Four Mile area south of Humboldt, NE. Read More	Jacob Johann Frey, 93, a life-long Bern farmer, died May 26, 1996, at the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home in Sabetha, KS. He was born June 4, 1902, to Fred William and Mary Louise Leunberger Frey, in the Four Mile area south of Humboldt, NE. After working as a blacksmith and later a farm employee in Colorado for two years, he began his life-long career as a farmer. He married Laura E. Yoesel on June 4, 1933. They lived near the Middleburg School area in Nebraska, then moved south of Bern in 1938. They remained there until moving to a farm north of Bern in 1966. He retired from farming in 1981 and they moved to Bern and lived there until moving to the Apostolic Christian Retirement Village in 1994. He was an active member of the Bern United Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge, and although he was unable to attend high school, he was proud ato have served the Bern School District as a member of the school board. Survivors are his wife, Laura; sons, Fred Fred, DuBois, NE; John Frey, Mankato, MN; daughter, Doris Sher, Shawnee, KS; brothers, Alfred Frey, Humboldt, NE; Ralph Frey, Humboldt, NE; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Frey, Edward Frey, Fred Frey; sisters, Wilma Klein, and Verna Cornett. Funeral Services were held May 29, 1996, at the Bern United Methodist Church, Bern, KS. Burial was in the Bern cemetery. Courier Tribune Seneca, KS June 5, 1996 pg 4
