Description	:	September 11, 1924 Indianola Herald Jacob Lockridge was born September 28, 1837, in Brown county, Indiana, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Welty, Norwalk, Iowa, September 6, 1924. In 1853 he came with his parents to Warren county, Iowa, and settled on the farm now the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Davidson, near Spring Hill. He was married May 22, 1862, to Isabel T. Simmons, who preceded him in death, June 16, 1907. To this union four children were born, Noah and Aaron of Spring Hill and Mrs. Elmer Welty, of Norwalk, a fourth dying in infancy. In... Read More	September 11, 1924 Indianola Herald Jacob Lockridge was born September 28, 1837, in Brown county, Indiana, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Welty, Norwalk, Iowa, September 6, 1924. In 1853 he came with his parents to Warren county, Iowa, and settled on the farm now the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Davidson, near Spring Hill. He was married May 22, 1862, to Isabel T. Simmons, who preceded him in death, June 16, 1907. To this union four children were born, Noah and Aaron of Spring Hill and Mrs. Elmer Welty, of Norwalk, a fourth dying in infancy. In 1865 he united with the Church of Christ in Greenbush and later transferred his membership to Norwalk. Here he held the office of deacon for a long period of years. Later he transferred his membership to Spring Hill where he was instrumental in the organizing of a church of his faith and in the erection of a church building. His long life was one of consistent service, and he was loved and respected by all who knew him. Besides his three children, he leaves eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, one brother, David, of Prole, and five sisters, Mrs. Lucinda S Heathco, of Idaho, Mrs. Ann Hart of Princeton, Missouri, Mrs. Jane Perkins, of Prole, Mrs. Katherine Davidson and Mrs. Vannie Leap of Spring Hill. He departed this life on the twenty-ninth anniversary of the death of his mother at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 22 days. Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ, Norwalk, Sunday, September 7, at 2 p.m. Interment was in the Lockridge cemetery, south of Norwalk.
