Thompson, age 85, will be held on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Occupy #1 Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff James, Bill Smith, and Hardy Estes officiating. Burial will be in the Occupy #1 Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home of Oakdale. Mr. Thompson passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the Oakdale Community Hospital.He was a lifelong resident of Pitkin, a member of Occupy #1 Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and song leader. He was a former employee of the Fort Polk Motor Pool and the Calcasieu Paper Industry until its closure. He was retired from Vernon Parish and was a WWII veteran. Visitation will be Monday until time of services in the church. Survivors include four sons, L.J. Thompson of Pitkin, Shelby Thompson of Longview, Texas, Michael Thompson of Glenmora and Gilbert Thompson of Oakdale eight daughters, Elaine martin of Leesville, Ezell Brown and Martha McMillian both of Longview, Texas, Linda Thompson and Belvie Sue Ritchie both of Pitkin, Darlene Richmond of Union Hill, Janie Ballard and Rhonda O'Banion both of Glenmora one brother, Barney Thompson of Alexandria one sister, Bertie Mae Thompson of Pitkin 26 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Lucrue Thompson.
